Privacy Policy
In short
- We collect only what we need to run your account, personalise your picks and send the notifications you choose.
- Míralo has no ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your personal data.
- You decide what is public: your profile, your lists and who can follow you are under your control.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. Your data is permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period.
- Questions or requests? Write to info@miralocine.com.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Míralo team (“Míralo”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Míralo mobile app (the “App”) and this website. Míralo is currently in beta and is available to users in Spain. By using the App you confirm that you have read this policy.
1. Who we are
The Míralo team is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at info@miralocine.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, your password (stored only in hashed form, never in plain text) and your username or display name.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose it, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
- Profile and preferences: an optional profile photo, your country and language, the streaming platforms you use, your favourite genres, and your notification, privacy and social settings.
- Your activity: titles you rate, like, dislike, favourite or mark as watched; lists you create (private, shared or public) and their members; people you follow and people who follow you; and comments or other content you post.
- Support and feedback: messages, support tickets, availability reports and any attachments you send us.
Information created while you use the App
- Taste profile and recommendations: we derive your favourite genres, keywords, regions and decades from your ratings and activity to personalise your picks and discovery results.
- Technical information: device type and operating system, App version, language, a push notification token, and standard server logs such as IP address and request time, used to keep the service secure and to fix problems.
Photos and camera
The App asks for access to your photos or camera only if you choose to set a profile picture. We receive only the image you select or take.
What we do not collect
- Your precise location, contacts or microphone audio.
- Advertising identifiers. Míralo contains no advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Payment card details. The beta is free and takes no payments.
3. How we use your information and why
We use your information to:
- create and secure your account, verify your email and let you sign in;
- provide Míralo’s features: personalised picks, search and discovery, where-to-watch information for your platforms, lists, ratings and your profile;
- send emails that are necessary for the service, such as email verification and password reset;
- send push notifications you have chosen, such as release reminders and activity on your lists;
- answer your support requests and review feedback and availability reports;
- keep Míralo safe, prevent abuse and investigate technical problems; and
- improve and develop the App.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spain’s Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD), we rely on these legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account, features, personalised picks, lists, support | Performance of our contract with you (providing the App) |
| Security, abuse prevention, fixing problems, improving the App | Our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service |
| Push notifications, camera and photo access, optional emails | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Responding to legal requests | Compliance with legal obligations |
6. Data sources and credits
The movie and series information shown in Míralo comes from third-party providers:
- TMDB provides movie and TV details, artwork, ratings and some streaming availability.
- Movie of the Night provides streaming availability and trending data.
- JustWatch: some streaming availability data may originate from JustWatch and reach Míralo through TMDB. Míralo does not currently use the JustWatch Partner API directly.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB. Movie of the Night and JustWatch do not endorse or sponsor Míralo either. All titles, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Provider data may change, and availability can vary by country. If you spot an error, use Report Incorrect Availability in the App’s settings.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers, such as Google, Expo and Resend, may process information outside the European Economic Area. When they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, it enters a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion by signing back in. After that period, your profile, ratings, lists, follows, preferences and push tokens are permanently deleted. Limited information may be kept for longer where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect the security of the service, and encrypted backups are removed on a routine cycle. Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
9. Your rights and choices
Under the GDPR and the LOPDGDD you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- rectify information that is inaccurate, most of which you can edit in Edit Profile and Settings;
- erase your information by deleting your account;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability, to receive your information in a commonly used format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off notifications or removing camera and photo access in your device settings.
To exercise a right, email info@miralocine.com from the address linked to your account. We will answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD, www.aepd.es) or your local supervisory authority.
10. How to delete your account
You can delete your account yourself in the App:
- Open the Profile tab and go to Settings.
- Choose Account, then Delete account, and confirm.
You can also request deletion by emailing info@miralocine.com from the address linked to your account. Your account is scheduled for deletion and permanently removed after a 30-day grace period; sign back in during that time to cancel.
11. How we protect your information
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls and limiting access to staff and providers who need it. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.
12. Children
Míralo is not intended for children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at info@miralocine.com and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
Míralo is in beta and its features will change. We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell you in the App or by email before they take effect.
14. Contact us
If you have any question about this policy or your personal information, email us at info@miralocine.com.
